Early Childhood Connections Childcare
Looking for free field trips to the Museum, free professional development training, 17 Gateways Contact Hours, and the joy of becoming a more effective childcare provider?
Kohl Children’s Museum is currently accepting applications for the Early Childhood Connections Childcare Basic Level (ECCC) program to home and center based child care providers in Cook and Lake County. The ECCC program provides opportunities for childcare providers to learn about and begin to use the Project Approach in your program. The ECCC program includes a professional development component for providers, interactive learning experiences for the children both in the home or center and at Kohl Children’s Museum, an on-site parent/child activity, a family event and family passes to the museum. Programming content will address NAEYC, Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards, and Common Core Standards.
The Project Approach is a method of teaching in which an in-depth study of a particular topic is conducted by a child or a group of children. The purpose of the Project Approach (Helm & Katz, 2001; Katz & Chard, 2000) is to involve children in investigations of topics that are worthwhile and of interest to them.
This program is offered to Family and Center based child care providers serving children receiving Illinois DHS Child Care Assistance. Priority will be given to childcare providers that are in the process of participating in the Quality Rating System (QRS) or ExceleRate Illinois.
