Honey Bee Hideout

Honey bees not only directly produce delicious honey, they also play a critical role in pollinating other fruit and vegetables that we eat.

Pollinators — including bees, butterflies, flies, geckos, and hundreds of other creatures — are key players in the ecosphere in which we live. As humans make dramatic changes to the environment around them, it’s important to understand, and sometimes alleviate, the impact we have on the world around us.

Activities

  • Dress in a bee costume and collect “pollen” from a flower
  • Deliver the pollen to the bee hive to make honey
  • View videos of bee activity inside a hive
  • Watch live feed of an active beehive on the Museum campus
