February 2025 Blog: Thinking Outside the Box
Kohl Children’s Museum’s mobile learning lab programs are designed to break down barriers to access by delivering high-quality educational experiences directly into communities. By doing so, the museum ensures that all children, regardless of their location or circumstances, can benefit from engaging and enriching learning opportunities. These programs are more than just a chance to play—they are a gateway to developing crucial skills that will serve children throughout their educational journeys and beyond.
Why It Matters:
- Promotes equal access to educational resources.
- Encourages community involvement and family engagement in learning.
- Supports early childhood development in a fun, interactive environment.
Box City
This month’s Mobile Learning Lab theme, “Box City,” invites children to let their imaginations run wild with cardboard creations. This program encourages youngsters to think outside the “box” by transforming everyday materials into homes, forts, and tunnels. With a focus on creativity and innovation, children will learn to design and build their own cardboard structures, developing spatial awareness and fine motor skills in the process.
Key Activities:
- Design and build a cardboard city, complete with homes and community spaces.
- Experiment with different construction techniques to create sturdy and imaginative structures.
- Engage in storytelling and role-play within their cardboard creations
Join us in celebrating and supporting the remarkable efforts by Kohl Children’s Museum Mobile Learning Lab as we continue to inspire and educate young minds. With programs like “Box City,” the Museum is paving the way for future generations to explore, discover, and grow within their own neighborhoods.
