Pop-Up Museum

As part of our commitment to ensuring that every child and family has access to a high-quality children’s museum experience, we are very excited to provide the Kohl Children’s Pop-Up Museum. This allows us to serve children and families in under-resourced areas by bringing our exhibits and programs to them directly, inspiring future generations in their own neighborhoods.

Wednesdays from 4:30 – 6:30 PM
Thursdays – Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Activities

The Pop-Up includes high-quality interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) elements:

Airmazing: Propel objects through tubes and balance balls on columns of air.
Design and Build: Explore engineering and construction with Rigamajig and design train paths on our Train Table.
Light and Shadow: Play with colors and patterns on light tables and create shadows with our shadow dome.
Motion Quest: Experiment with using air pressure, gravity, and gears to make things move with out actually touching them.
Art Studio: Easels, make-it stations, and 3D sculptures

October 29–31

“Spooky Science” at the Pop-Up
Stop by for hands-on Play at the Pop-Up and pick up a Spooky Science Activity Bag filled with nature-based experiments inspired by some of our most fascinating—and creepy-crawly—creatures! Explore real insect specimens under microscopes and dive into the world of science and discovery. Bags available while supplies last.

“Ciencia Espeluznante” en el Pop-Up
Ven a disfrutar de Juega en el Pop-Up y recibe una bolsa de actividades de Ciencia Espeluznante, llena de experimentos basados en la naturaleza e inspirados en algunas de nuestras criaturas más curiosas y escalofriantes. Explora verdaderos especímenes de insectos bajo los microscopios y sumérgete en el mundo de la ciencia y el descubrimiento. Bolsas disponibles hasta agotar existencias.

Día de los Muertos at the Pop-Up
Join us in the art studio for an all-day celebration of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).Young artists are invited to create portraits of loved ones who have passed and contribute to our community ofrenda, displayed in the Pop-Up Museum windows. Enjoy a bilingual storytime at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. as we honor memory, culture, and creativity together.

Día de los Muertos en el Pop-Up
Únete a nosotros en el estudio de arte para celebrar el Día de los Muertos durante todo el día. Los jóvenes artistas están invitados a crear retratos de seres queridos que han fallecido y a contribuir a nuestra ofrenda comunitaria, que se exhibirá en las ventanas del Museo Pop-Up. Disfruta de una hora del cuento bilingüe a las 11:00 a.m. y 2:00 p.m., mientras honramos la memoria, la cultura y la creatividad juntos.

Imagination Library Sign-Up Event

With Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the Lake County Regional Office of Education Foundation. The Kohl Children’s Museum Pop-Up is thrilled to partner with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the Lake County Regional Office of Education Foundation to bring free books into the hands of children across our community! Visit us between 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM to sign up for this free reading program that delivers books directly to your home. Meet representatives from both organizations to learn more and get your family started on a lifelong love of reading.
