Fall Family Festival

Our Fall Family Festival from 2:30 – 5 PM on Sun, Sept 29 & Oct 6 celebrates the changing of the seasons with outdoor exploration!

Our annual Fall Family Festival is back, with some old favorites and some new exciting activities. Get ready for a jam-packed afternoon of animal discovery and fall-themed fun to celebrate the changing of the seasons outdoors. Costumes encouraged but not required – give those trick-or-treat outfits a test run! Limited capacity. Advance reservations required.

Please note member discounts do not apply to corporate or reciprocal members. Tickets not required for infants under 12 months of age. Please note that due to the popularity of this event, tickets are non-refundable once purchased. 20% cancellation fees may apply.


Activities from 2:30 – 5 PM (animals and art programming end at 4:30 PM):
• Special previews of our newest traveling exhibit, Thomas & Friends™: Explore the Rails!
• Children’s concert with Wendy and DB
• Kiddie train rides through our Habitat Park exhibit
• A petting farm, including goats, ducks, and a piglet
• Unusual animal meet and greets (animals may include a sloth, tortoise, giant bullfrog, and cavy, with a separate room for reptiles and insects)
• An old-fashioned apple cider press demonstration and cider sampling courtesy of Historic Wagner Farm
• Meet and greet with Princess Belle
• Our can’t-do-this-at-home art activity: Paint a Car!
• Immerse yourself in the joy of sensory play in slime with our friends from Sloomoo Institute Chicago

PLUS: All 16 indoor exhibits will be open for exploration! Habitat Park will be closed for the kiddie train rides. Event will occur rain or shine. Kiddie train, paint-a-car, and petting farm, may cancel or suspend in case of lightning.

Get another use of that costume or make masks part of the event by incorporating them into early Halloween dress-up! (Costumes encouraged but not required.) Masks are optional for this event.   • Museums for All Program (EBT/WIC cardholders): $3/person (up to 4 admissions) *P-EBT not valid

All children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
